Adrian 'Jackpot' Lewis

Born in Stoke-on-Trent in 1985, Adrian Lewis has made a real impact upon the sport since announcing himself to the darting world with his TV debut in the 2004 UK Open. Lewis was the protegé of Phil Taylor, and with early guidance from the greatest player of all time combined with a wonderful natural talent, the future looks very bright indeed for 'Jackpot'.

The UK Open has been a tournament that has seen Adrian really impose himself upon the PDC's established performers, enjoying a run to the last 16 in 2005 as he anhilated Colin Monk 11-0 in the 5th round before narrowly losing out on a quarter-final spot. 2006 saw Adrian again reach the last 16, beating Wayne Mardle 11-10 in a 4th round thriller before losing his way somewhat with an 11-6 defeat to John MaGowan.

The same year also saw Adrian reach the quarter-finals of the World Championship, picking up the scalps of Dennis Priestley and Roland Scholten on the way, before eventually bowing out against Peter Manley in controversial fashion.

Manley's antics pushed gamesmanship to the limit and by constantly muttering away to the young man as he was at the oche, he managed to exploit Lewis's lack of experience and he eventually prevailed - though Taylor exacted sweet revenge by hammering Manley 7-0 in the final. Having been awarded a place in this year's Premier League for the first time, Adrian is widely tipped as a future World Champion and will only improve as he builds up his big tournament experience.

'Jackpot' went out in the fifth round for the third year in a row at the 2007 Blue Square UK Open as Mark Dudbridge upset the odds to take the match 11-7, a disappointing result for Adrian, but a player of his quality will surely not have to wait much longer for a first major title and he will be a force for years to come.
