Peter 'One Dart' Manley

Born in Cheam, Surrey in 1962, Peter Manley is one of the more colourful characters in the PDC, and 2005's UK Open semi-finalist enjoyed a brief spell as world number one just two years after turning professional. Despite his reputation as one of the sports finest players over the last five or six years, major titles have proved elusive for 'One Dart'.

Peter has suffered three defeats in World Championship finals to his nemesis Phil Taylor, two of them 7-0 whitewashes, and his only major title to date is the 2003 Las Vegas Desert Classic where he defeated John Part 16-12 in an epic final. His best performance in the UK Open was reaching the semi-finals in 2005 - a tournament once again won by Taylor as Manley came agonisingly close to adding to his solitary title.

Often caught up in controversial incidents, Manley wound up Adrian Lewis to the point where the young man had to leave the stage in the 2006 World Championship by constantly speaking to his opponent when he was at the oche.

He also refused to shake Phil Taylor's hand after his anhilation in the 2002 World Championship final and has often been seen as something of a pantomime villain as fans have booed him on stage, a role he seems to relish. Peter 'One Dart' Manley is one of many players who could claim that things may have been very different for him if it weren't for the incredible dominance of Phil Taylor over the years.

Almost inevitably, Manley found himself drawn against Taylor once again in Round 4 - the entry point for the top players - and his bid to win this title for the first time ended before it had begun. An 11-3 crushing on the Main Stage saw 'One Dart' heading home early after yet more punishment at the hands of Taylor...
